What is The Short Course at Mountain Shadows?
It’s an 18-hole, par-3 golf course in Paradise Valley, Arizona, designed by Forrest Richardson and reopened in 2017. Every hole is a par 3, so the course plays to a par of 54.
Is the course open to the public?
It has been open to public play, with some policies differing for registered resort guests. Confirm current public-play access and any guest-only perks directly with the course.
How long is the course?
Holes range from roughly 75 to 200 yards, with a total of about 2,300 yards from the back tees — short by championship standards, but with real variety.
How long does a round take?
Most golfers finish all 18 holes in under three hours; nine holes take about 90 minutes.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes — the shorter par-3 format is approachable for newer players while still challenging experienced golfers on the greens. See our beginners article.
Are rental clubs available?
Rental clubs are generally available for a fee, with policies that may differ for resort guests. Confirm current rental options and pricing when you book.
Is there a driving range?
Because it’s a short course, expect a practice putting and chipping area rather than a full driving range. Verify current practice facilities with the course.
Can I walk the course?
Yes, it’s very walkable and walking is common. Push carts and golf carts are typically available for a fee.
When is the best time of year to play?
Roughly late October through April for the most comfortable weather; summer is hotter but cheaper and quieter — play early in the day.
Is there food and drink on site?
Yes, there’s an on-site patio and lounge serving food and drinks, plus additional dining at the wider resort.
How do I book a tee time?
Book directly with the official course or resort. We don’t take bookings or process payments.
