This is the headline window. Daytime highs typically sit in the 60s to low 80s°F, skies are clear, and course conditions are at their best. It’s also when out-of-towners arrive to escape colder climates, so courses are busiest and prices are highest — especially around early-February tournament excitement in the wider Scottsdale area. If you want unbeatable weather and don’t mind paying a premium, book well ahead.
Shoulder season: May and September
These months are a sweet spot for many golfers. The weather is still very playable — warm but not yet brutal — tee times open up, and rates begin to ease off peak pricing. If you want a balance of good conditions and better value, this is often the smart pick.
Summer: June through September
Summer in the desert is hot, often well above 100°F in the afternoon. But it’s also the most affordable time to play, and it’s genuinely workable if you tee off early in the morning or play twilight rounds. Hydrate aggressively, wear sun protection, and treat midday as pool time rather than golf time.
Why a short course is a smart pick year-round
A par-3 round is shorter and quicker, which helps in every season: less time in peak-season crowds, and far less time exposed to summer heat. An early-morning eighteen at a short course can be done before the day gets uncomfortable.
